Senator Sanders could stand to take a lesson from Senator Warren on the Coronavirus bill vote

Warren didn't sit it out and avoid taking action on the first vote, despite the fact that it wasn't everything that she wanted it to be, because we need action and leadership from Democrats NOW. She didn't just roll over and vote yes or go AWOL on the vote for the first version, and she didn't make perfect the enemy of doable.

She showed up and did her damn job during an emergency, and then explained why she voted for the package that was not all that Democrats wanted and what she's doing moving forward.

This is what Presidential looks like:

She also didn't take credit for single-handedly "influencing GOP senators" or work on the bill that she didn't actually do....

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

That he single-handedly saw off an attempt by several Republican Senators to alter the bill to limit assistance to unemployed people. This is nonesense, and such a claim is a deliberate lie. Worse, it is a lie which only the naive and ignorant can be expected to swallow. This is the measure of what 'Bernie' thinks of his supporters, and of the public at large. There is no behavior more despicable in an intelligent man than an attempt to mislead to his own profit the ignorant and naive and the foolish.

"When things are not called by their right names, what is said cannot make sense. When what is said does not make sense, what is planned cannot succeed. I hear AOC won't sign on and that is why it might not be unanimous and might take longer than it should. This is embarrassing for the house not to be unanimous. Not a good look for AOC. Hell, I will send money to her primary challenger if she does this. This is an national emergency and it will be interesting to see if she can put national interest above ideology. The Democrat AOC took down would have worked hard to make the bill good for working people and then voted for the compromise. Time will tell. She is facing a primary challenge and should consider that before voting for or against the rescue bill.

However, she makes it impossible for it to be unanimous if she plans to object. The House should vote unanimously on the rescue bill...it is embarrassing for any Democrat to cause a delay of an entire day because some of our members (don't know if there are others) won't sign on to a bill to help millions who are hurting because of the virus. The others are well to the right of her. Velazquez is a proven progressive.

But, I must admit that if it looks like Velazquez and AOC will split the progressive vote so badly that one of the three more right people slip through to win, then people need to swallow hard and support AOC so that she wins the primary. Afterward, we can see whether she changes and becomes more realistic, if she doesn't, a more organized democratic primary effort can be waged against her in a couple years, hopefully fielding only proven progressive democrats.
