No need to "risk your life" for a "meh" candidate when you can sensibly take a stand for someone who you have a well-founded belief will do a good job, if not the one you would have wished for in an ideal world. To have good government, you must first elect good people. The rest is details.

Biden is a good, honorable, honest man.

As for that "risk your life," come on. That's for old folks like me, and strictly for those too afraid to even do a monthly shopping. Bless their hearts, no doubt we do have some heroes among them taking a stand anyway on their election days.

“If we fail to vote, we don’t count. .... I just hope that, in spite of whatever is going on now, that people will not be afraid to come out and vote. We have to vote.” Genuine hero, no delusions, Congressman John Lewis

I was a day one donor to Biden and maxed out to him back in October. I have met Joe at two separate fund raisers and he is the real deal.

As someone who is working hard to turn Texas blue, I am glad that Joe is the nominee. After 2010 election, there were 101 republicans in the Texas state house compared to 49 Democrats. We are 9 seats away from flipping control of the Texas house. We flipped two congressional seats and there are 7 seats being targeted by the DCCC. We have a chance of voting Cornyn out if MJ Hegar is the nominee. If Warren or sanders was the nominee on the top of ticket, all down ballot candidates in Texas would be lost causes. With Joe on the top of the Ticket, Texas will be a battleground state.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

I’m not voting for Biden because he’s exciting. I’m excited about voting for him because he’s NOT exciting. I like him because he’s steady and dependable!

I want a ”boring,” dependable candidate who says what he means, and means what he says, and doesn’t need a murder of howler monkeys to gaslight us into believing what he “really” said--which is nothing like what came out of his mouth.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate whose word today is good tomorrow—or even five minutes from now.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who will be where he’s supposed to be and do the job he’s hired to do.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who I can count on to do the right thing for ALL Americans, and doesn’t expect to have his ass kissed for it.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who understands our constitution and how our government works—and respects the people who make our government function.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who is humble enough to admit he doesn’t know everything, but that he respects experts and their expertise enough to seek AND heed their advice.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who will have a staff and cabinet that are not only eminently qualified for their positions, but also will stick around longer than the shelf life of raw fish.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who knows that the worst way to keep our country safe is to alienate our allies and kowtow to monsters.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who doesn’t think he’s above the law.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who doesn’t attack his own citizens if they disagree with him or don’t praise him enough.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who won’t treat our press with contempt when they report the truth, even if that truth is detrimental to him.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who isn’t constantly stirring up chaos and hate and drama.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate I can count on to do all of these things so that I can focus on living my life, and can even, you know, forget about politics sometimes, because I know the guy in charge will be doing his damned job.

I want a “boring,” dependable candidate who will let me sleep at night without worrying that he’ll blow up the government or even the world if he’s not watched constantly.

And that is why I support Biden. Because he will be that “boring,” dependable guy who gets shit done without a bunch of drama. I’m sick to death of excitement and drama.

I do not care diddly squat if he makes a verbal mistake now and then,as long as I can trust him!

I certainly do not want a one trick pony who can not graciously lose, endorse his opponant as every one of our great candidates did. You know, like Obama did, and Clinton did, and Carter did, and JFK did, and Truman Did, and FDR did.

LBJ kinda took a big wrong turn there, so he doesn't get full credit.

Compared to what, or to whom?

That's a very vague criticism that could mean anything. In what specific area do you find Joe Biden to not be "compelling" enough for you?

What would he need to do in order to become more "compelling" for you to feel better about voting for him?

If you truly believe that the "primary is over"... then you'd also throttle-back on the backhanded smears and the passive-aggressive swipes and other assorted cheap-shots (ie: "meh" and "not compelling" and "exploitable deficits" and "disappointing" and "nobody I know supports him") those things are wrong, and wrong-headed.

All I'm saying (and I'm being perfectly honest with you here) all that whining and griping and swiping and flat-out negativity certainly does NOT sound like someone who has accepted that the "primary is over".

If I were to vote in a presidential

Anything specific is exploitable now.

Any specific criticism is now a potential right-wing attack.

I'm trying to encourage those who find him disappointing to vote for him.

I won't post anti-biden specifics any more.

How can you say, " "nobody I know supports him&quot those things are wrong, and wrong-headed." WTF Jackie? It is wrong and wrong headed to comment on the people I KNOW?!?!? Or is it wrong that I'm friends with them?!?! I'm sorry, they are getting messages about Joe being a rapist, the democrats thwarting the relief bill, and other bullshit. That Bernie-sphere is full of Russian disinfo and rightwing disinfo. That's what I'm fighting. Those people will not read a "rah! Rah! Joe message." You don't have to coddle them, but get out of the way of those of us who are.

I'm sorry you live in a bubble where there is universal support for him. I do not. My circle is pretty left-wing. I need to reach out to potential NEW Biden voters now. I know people who won't vote at all because, "Both sides are the same." I know Bernie Supporters and Pete supporters and Amy supporters and Warren supporters who all find Biden problematic. I doubt we are alone. I see people on here who are looking for reasons to support him, well, we are finally down to what I am told is Biden's #1 strength, He is not Trump.

People had better prepare themselves to pull that lever. It is life or death.

I'm not the one being negative. I'm not the one who's boasting about knowing absolutely nobody who supports Biden. Clearly this tidbit of info from you is being offered-up as some sort of justification for the continued negativity and cheap-shots.

Anything specific is exploitable now. Any specific criticism is now a potential right-wing attack. I'm trying to encourage those who find him disappointing to vote for him.
Oh, please! GMAFB! I'm not stupid you know.

I won't post anti-biden specifics any more.
All of these things are just "clever" ways to make nonspecific references to whatever negatives you believe he has and continually refer to all the other assorted smears and accusations. Everyone can see that it's an effort to keep them at the forefront, and to remind others of them as well.

All I'm saying here is this: You don't have to be specific... the "hints" and "winks" are good enough. Everyone knows what you're talking about. This is a dangerous game. Caution... thin-ice ahead.

No, "Lauren"... I believe your friends are real, and I believe that "nobody you know" supports Biden. That much is true. I'll take you at your word on that. It's clear to me that you're telling the truth about that detail.

It's also clear to me that the reasons for publicly announcing that "nobody you know" supports Biden is to feed (and create) a narrative that Biden isn't likeable, and that his support is tepid and fractured. It's a passive-aggressive smear. It's negative, and it's not necessary.

You know perfectly well that things like that serve no good purpose. It only creates an atmosphere of negativity: Negativity generates apathy. Apathy discourages voter turnout. Low voter turnout gives Republicans a chance to steal the elections.

Apparently, my whole life is a passive aggressive smear aimed right at you Jackie.

If my mistake is "publicly announcing" my disappointment, I think you just want anyone who disagrees with you to shut up. You aren't against our disappointment, you just don't want to hear about it.

Meanwhile, you will notice that other folks have taken to post in the spirit it is intended, not developed an obsession with belittling the author's experiences.

Maybe things would be better if you didn't publicly announce such feelings? It leads to the impression that Biden supporters are self important, superior, and unwelcoming to those of us with doubts.

If my mistake is "publicly announcing" my disappointment, I think you just want anyone who disagrees with you to shut up. You aren't against our disappointment, you just don't want to hear about it.
What I'm seeing is clearly an indication of an inability or unwillingness to move on. The repeated expressions of "disappointment" (and the efforts prove that you're not alone in these feelings of woe) are nothing but negativity.

You aren't against our disappointment, you just don't want to hear about it.
Yes, we all know that you're going to "hold your nose" to vote for Biden because he's the "lesser of two evils"... got it! Understood. But you need to know that saying things like that serves no good purpose. It motivates nobody. It just feeds into and validates the negativity of others who can't accept that their candidate didn't win.

All I'm trying to point out to you is (once again) those passive-aggressive attacks and other cheap-shots only serve to create an atmosphere of negativity: Negativity generates apathy. Apathy discourages voter turnout. Low voter turnout gives Republicans a chance to steal the elections.

"You know perfectly well that I never said such a thing."

Right, you said SPEAKING of it was passive aggressive. As long as I live my life in silence and don't empower the Republicans by mentioning the (obvious in my world) apathy for Biden and encouraging the apathetic to vote for him, you are fine with it.

Silence peon. Hush uppity little voice who doesn't think like me. Your message is clear.

Meanwhile, I glance at Twitter and see they have weaponized more of Biden's behavior to suppress the vote.

The reality is, we need a plan for shifting voters from apathy to engagement. It seems like the "we don't need them" argument for apathetic voters is counter productive. Silencing them would seem to imply they are unwanted. I tend toward a much bigger tent.

And validating their negativity with even MORE negativity and cheap-shots aimed at Biden will only REINFORCE those perceptions. You're really not helping with so much indulgent talk about "meh" and "he's just not compelling". Time to move on and end the pity party. The time for grieving is over. The time for anger is over. You don't want to be specific in the negative smears and cheap-shots against Biden... so you think it's "safer" to continually allude to them with some sort of passive-aggressive backhanded ambiguous references? Honestly, nobody is fooled. We can see this for the indulgent negativity that it is. It's not helping anything. It's just another roundabout way to try and kneecap Biden.

Honestly, it needs to stop. Being passive-aggressive with the smears and attacks on Biden may help someone personally with their grieving process, but there's really no need for it. It's divisive and continually projecting that kind of negativity only creates resentment and suspicion.

People who continually proclaim "the primaries are over" should act like it. That's all I'm trying to say. They can't have it both ways.

You may not get your ideal candidate, but your pledge to not vote Biden is putting peoples' lives, including mine, in jeopardy. Would you rather have a centrist or a proto-Fascist who is taking a sledge hammer to every watchdog and institution left to hold government officials accountable? Would you rather have:

- Someone who is somewhat corporate friendly, or someone who believes that the entire purpose of the government should be to serve / enrich him and his cronies?

- Someone who isn't totally on your side in terms of immigration, or someone who is one step away from committing genocide against Hispanic people?

- Someone who you think isn't going to do enough for the black community, or someone who was/is openly hostile to them and shrugs his shoulders when black people die? Do you want someone who wants to help the black community and minorities, or someone whose father attended Klan rallies?

- Someone who isn't revolutionary on LGBT issues, or someone who is trying to erase the existence of trans people from the US, and is a couple steps from throwing them into cattle cars?

- Someone who may have had some issues in the past, or someone who nobody would be surprised if he instantly nullified all gay marriages and demanded an amendment to define marriage as between a man or a woman?

- Someone who supports the separation of church and state, or someone who wants to completely dismantle it to appease Christo-Fascists in middle America?

- A President, or someone who wants to be a king?

- Knowledgeable government officials who deserve to be in their positions, or a den of vipers scrambling to obfuscate their incompetence through propaganda and blaming the "deep state?"

The list goes on. If you are against voting for Biden, and feel like you want to sit out, you are supporting Fascism. It's that simple. You are not proving anything. You are destroying this country by sitting idly by while a cancerous tumor grows in our institutions.

The so-called progressives who are stubbornly willing to allow Trump to have another 4 years, rather than vote for Biden, which will cause millions of people more suffering, are not true progressives but selfish, and morally backward with the psychological and moral level of ISIS members and the Taliban.

They in their inner turmoil and illogic want to punish the democrats because they rejected Bernie. Even though millions of people will suffer if Trump winds again. The utter failure of his Pandemic policy in which he has caused the death of thousands of Americans is another indication of his dangerousness to human beings Yet these people will still out of egotism and sulking allow Trump another 4 years.

This is proof, also, that their progressivism is not based on intentions of humanity and love but a dogmatic, rigid narrowness and spite.
