https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=361805897864971Thank you for your support over the last two months. In that short amount of time, this community met the 65,000-donor threshold to get invited to the DNC debate, raised more than $7,000,000 in the first quarter, and introduced us to voters all across the country.
I’m making an announcement in South Bend on April 14th and would be honored if you would join me.
Whether you’ll be supporting us from home through our livestream or joining us in person, we want you to be a part of the special day.
Probably his official launch.

(21,464 posts)Pete has emerged as a true contender. So glad he's going to make it official and enter the race.
On a side note, Celerity, I saw the back and forth between you and DU member "Brush" about Pete firing South Bend's police chief and Pete admitting it was his biggest mistake. Personally, I think it's admirable for a politician to claim ownership of mistakes and admit it publicly. Let's face it, who among us doesn't make mistakes? That said, too many elected officials try to sweep their miscues under the carpet. Deny, spin, dodge the question. Pete hasn't done that. He's accountable for his decisions.
President Obama, who is universally loved here at the DU (and for good reason), also had such moments:
President Barack Obama said the worst mistake of his presidency was failing to prepare for the aftermath Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi’s ousting.

That's leadership!

(152,786 posts)I remember him saying that you only get to declare once, and so you want to make it BIG.
Wish I could be there, but that's impossible.

(634 posts)A small group of us (3 for sure -- maybe 4) will be going together to Pete's Announcement. I think it will be both powerful and a lot of fun. This is one of the few times in my adult life that, as a Democrat, I'm really glad that I live in Indiana!
We are honored to represent those of you who are not able to attend. And we know you will be with us in spirit. So, if you're watching on TV, and you see a group of really good looking people with an old buzzard, cheering wildly -- it's likely that it's us.
I'm very sorry all of you can't be there with us!
