went to a DC Pete event on foreign policy this week

and I have to say: Pete's foreign policy team is DAZZLING. Absolutely first-rate. Thoughtful, interesting, and super-smart. All I could think was: "Yes, please may these people be in charge of carrying out our foreign policy and international diplomacy the next 4, and hopefully, 8 years."

They seemed like a nice bunch of people, too.
One of the speakers mentioned Pete's Rules of the Road, and that the two that really stood out for her were "Joy" and "Belonging."
Several of the speakers noted that it has been an "honor and a privilege" to work with Pete.
Someone else mentioned that Pete understood the issues so well that he was often better at explaining the issues than they were.

People are not giving Pete enough credit for his foreign policy chops. Just the "feel" he's already displayed on these issues (his uncanny ability to get to the core of the issues), his knowledge of foreign languages, and his equally uncanny ability to think on his feet, coupled with his work- and study-related travel, are impressive enough. But now knowing about this crackerjack foreign policy team– we will be in excellent hands.

The regular two-dimensions, plus depth, plus time. He runs models in his mind - all possible combinations of events including if the event happens "now" or "tomorrow" or in several decades - then he boils his knowledge down to something that can be communicated in words to the rest of us.

If he surrounds himself with brilliant people we have a chance of slowing the ever-accelerating pace of self-destruction.
