(7,903 posts)it was the e,ployee's perfectly legitimate fear of retaliation which made me angrier than anything else in the story. Dammit, we need to be able to protect people from bullies, and we have not yet in almost 250 years figured out how to do that. But you can bet that all the people buried at Artlingtonserved and died trying to.
As Gen.Eaton said in an email to VoteVets supporters, grieving survivors have a right to invite anyone to visit their loved one with them - even if they are nutty enough to admre Trump** But they, and/or their guest, do not have any right to turn that visit into a political stunt.
In all honesty though - the "thumbs up" in the still photo looks to me less like a "thumbs up" and more like arthritis. I am (almost) a year older than Trump** - there is about a month and a half each year that I must bear the indignity of being the same age - and in my lifetime I have used my hands a lot. Knitting, crocheting, and keyboards are only a few of the ways. And lately I have noticed that if I close my fist (either hand), my thumb kind of does that, The right thumb in particular sometimes almost locks - I can moe it out of that curve, but sometime I can feel the move all the way down to the palm of my hand. It's as if there is a click, exceept the I only feel it and don't hear it. I can make my thumb make an L-shape with my hand, but even then, the thumb has a curve to it. I would not expect that staying out of the military, or a life filled with despicable act,s would make him immune to arthritis.
My mother's hands did the same thing as she approached 80. Her family was all German,; I did have one parent on my father's side who was half English and half Scottish - maybe it's an ethnic group thing I don't know, but have the impression you are much younger, but try it with your own hands - remembering that if the thumb doesn't curl now, it still might in X number of years.

(222,124 posts)He used it on January 6th, promoting violence to get his illegal and unprecedented way, and specifically to turn his violent crowd to go after VP Pence to follow TFG's illegal attempt to overturn the election rather than to follow his ceremonial duty to count the electoral votes. Not only was this unimaginable in our history, but showed how little he'd learned about governmental procedures even after four years. And in this despicable and bullying instance at Arlington National Cemetery, to get his way again.
And I can't speak to whether or not TFG has arthritis, and I'm sorry that you do. Not having had a very active life, no military service, little to no exercise (except riding on his golf courses), he may or not be vulnerable. We know that he can't do stairs - or ramps.
What I cannot fathom is why anyone at all would "follow" him or his take his lies seriously. He's attacked anyone, especially the bravery of our veterans since day one - starting with former POW John McCain. I can't imagine what he'd do in the same circumstances - likely give the enemy anything they asked for, as he has with Putin and Kim Jong Un. He is a danger to our country as long as he walks free and deserves to meet the same fate as those who followed his instructions on January 6th.

(7,903 posts)so I've earned it (specifically osteoarthritis). And I'm fortunate that it's (so far) only a few places and mild enough I can cpnytol it with ice or TENS or compression. They actually make spandex fingerless gloves foe need;ewprkers, but they're also helpful foe keyboard use. My husband's mother had to give up knitting , sewing, and crocheting. If you ever do get it and they want you to have cortisone, hold out for hyaluronic acid (un;ess by then they've come up with something better still.) that's tip frpnj the facility that works with the Olympic Training Center and keeps athletes going, by the way.

(113,130 posts)because even the fence sitters have a pretty good idea who the man is and he's never gone a millimeter out of his way to make anyone around him feel better, it's all about HIM. And of course, he's never done anything wrong in his whole life.
Watching those two heartless oafs trying to put lipstick on this pig of a story is hilarious.
