Historian Timothy Snyder: 'Freedom is positive' and 'being joyous is the first step' - Velshi - MSNBC

Seven years ago, Timothy Snyder wrote the best-selling book “On Tyranny.” His new book “On Freedom” is a rumination of what it truly means to be free, especially during a time when authoritarianism has been making strides around the world.

“Being against things is just the beginning; you have to know what you’re for,” Snyder tells Ali Velshi. “Being angry is not the right first step. Being joyous is the right first step.” He adds, “We have to be rebels in our time and try to make the future better than the present. That’s what freedom is.” - Aired on 09/22/2024.

A topic was Seek Constant improvement. Strive to improve a method or a function or how to do daily tasks. When you succeed. Continue to the next improvement. IOW make the future better than the present.

Not taught in Republican “leadership” classes.

"Loyalty" to the convicted felon who attempted to overthrow the government is all that counts for today's Republicans. Coincidentally, I have "From Russia with Lev" on the TV yet again - and Lev Parnas just quoted what I just typed.
