To me a lot of people will watch the local news but never watch national news.
The one thing I wish would have been emphasized more was the actual crimes committed during the coverage. Also that even though she got full access to the machines she and the others she gave the data to were never able to actually prove anything wrong. But then it has been covered there a lot more. So may not make a difference.

Plus, it looks like the local news covered this as an ongoing story so viewers likely got to see the entire story as it played out.
