And yet he still never accepted the identical results that he lost - badly.

7. He won by 80,000 votes so it's unlikely a request would be granted.

The state requires an automatic, statewie recount if the margin between the candidates is 2,000 votes or less, according to state law. Candidates can also petition for a recount if certain requirements are met, including if they have an honest belief that without “fraud or mistake, the candidate would have had a reasonable chance of winning the election.”

The campaign would need to provide specific evidence that fraud was committed or that significant mistakes were made in tabulation, etc.

10. I'd rather be realistic than insist on something that simply isn't going to happen.

"I just want a recount" isn't going to work. There needs to be proof that one is warranted. I'm sorry if my response doesn't meet your expectations, but unrealistic expectations were a common problem here on DU this cycle and a big reason why many were so shocked at the outcome. They're also making it understandably harder to accept. I prefer to be realistic than give people false hope, though that's sometimes at odds here. And that's fine.

The bar for requesting a recount is extremely high in Michigan, as noted. If evidence existed to request a recount, I can't imagine that the campaign wouldn't have done so by now. They have 48 hours after canvassing is completed.

A candidate can request a recount if all of the following conditions are met:[5]

The candidate ran for one of the following offices: president and vice president, state executive (e.g., governor), U.S. Senate, U.S. House, circuit judges, state senate and state representative[6]
The request "alleges that the candidate is aggrieved on account of fraud or mistake in the canvass of the votes"
The request "shall contain specific allegations of wrongdoing only if evidence of that wrongdoing is available to the petitioner. If evidence of wrongdoing is not available, the petitioner is only required to allege fraud or a mistake in the petition without further specification."
The request "sets forth as nearly as possible the nature and character of the fraud or mistakes alleged and the counties, cities, or townships and the precincts in which they exist."
The request "specifies the counties, cities, townships, and precincts in which the recount is requested."

There are about 200,000 Arab-Americans who are registered voters in Michigan. Most of them likely did not vote for either one of the presidential candidates as a protest non-vote action.

trump won Michigan by approximately 83,000 votes.

--->Do the math or continue to live in denial.
