With winter setting in around much of the country, many people are also gearing up for cough and cold season. But the Food and Drug Administration now says that phenylephrine, a long-used ingredient in many over-the-counter medicines, is ineffective and should be removed. alka seltze plus used to work for us, but since the meth lab panic it no longer works.

i' going to be throwing a few of these things away.

i would not count on rfk to remove anything from the shelf merely because it does not work.
