What is Trump Hiding From Secret Service? - Thom Hartmann

Donald Trump is apparently denying certain Secret Service protections because it would limit his ability to do certain things on his golf course... but what is the convicted felon and Republican candidate doing that he doesn't want Secret Service to know? - Aired on 09/17/2024.

4. I'm guessing that TFG is the only one who's done this, he gets money any way that he can, Bibles, sneakers, etc.

illegal to charge for government protection. Trump's behavior is setting precedents for it, so, to prevent it from happening in the future, prohibitions against it need to be codified into law.

Trump does. But many candidates and office holders or their relatives have investments in businesses that could be used for meetings, meals, or for their own personal recreation or other activities like sports events, concerts, art galleries, etc. The SS have to be present at all those activities and could be charged high prices for their presence.

We used to have a Congressman in my district who transferred his law practice ownership and collections agency to his wife's name to "avoid conflicts of interest" but used both businesses to wield political power in the district. Didn't involve SS since he did not have or need SS protection. It was more of an abuse of power situation combined with grifting, but it illustrates what creative office holders and candidates can do by combining their elected service with private businesses.
