Catholic Hospitals Won't Perform These Life-Saving Operations So California is Suing The Church - Thom Hartmann

Should hospitals that don't perform life-saving surgery for religious reasons have to inform patients? California thinks that patients should be informed. Thom Hartmann explains.

Because I had never had any children, I couldn’t find a doctor that would do it. I went to Planned Parenthood and they found me a doctor that would perform it. That’s why I support and donate to PP.

One day it hit me that I had put my ex on my Advanced Healthcare directive, and he's Catholic. I'm not. So I got in touch and asked him if he would be willing to pull the plug, if need be, and he said no. Guess who is no longer on my Advanced Healthcare directive?

Then I realized that I have to make sure no one ever takes me near a Catholic Hospital, because they won't do what I want done. I'm long past the pregnancy stage. But damned if I'm going to lay there and suffer, or be in a permanent coma, and they won't allow anyone to pull the plug.

It's not only about getting life saving surgeries. It's about letting us choose how we want to leave this world. Make sure the folks you have on your Advanced Healthcare directive are in line with your beliefs. And steer clear of any religious Hospital.

Thank goodness I live in California!

There was a young couple that went to catholic hospital in town. Something went wrong with the pregnancy. They refused treatment. So the man tried to save his wife's life by driving her to another hospital. They got killed in a car wreck. And now they are trying to make all hospitals like the catholic ones.
