We (collectively) are uneducated, temperamental toddlers with the franchise.
The founders expected AN INFORMED ELECTORATE.
They also bent the knee to slaver holders to create the republic (and even though we BEAT the slavers, we did not ever FIX the EC).

There is no hope when people are more afraid of an educated, accomplished, serious woman (of color or caucasian) than they are of a serial liar, convicted felon, rapist.

There is no logic at play here. No objective list of things that could have been done differently - unless you start in 1866 and fix EVERYTHING evil and sick that has been done since then.
