Got rid of the TV at the time just because I was always mad at the shows and ads; ; I never regretted it or missed it.
Even when away from home the hotel screens stay off in my rooms. lol I don't even know how to control the control.

But I still follow online print media. Yes, big TV media are focused on their format of short clips banter and lots of advertising. I've always preferred reading my news for over 40 years now.

He's "write" about it being over. I was never too enthralled to begin with simply because of the economic system, capitalism. I think there are better ways to organize the human experience than exploitation of resources and your fellow human being. I decided a long time ago to go into education, and I dumped a career in marketing over it. I said thank dog there's at least someplace to work where you don't have to engage in that economic system.

Now they're trying to dump our public school system. Abolish the Dept. of Education. They want to put some dufus from World Wrestling in charge. Good luck with that, assholes. We have a good union or two or three or four.

He says four years, but it's only two until we can get back the House and the Senate. I think of it as two years and I'm taking a vacation from their games and politics as reality show. The world is bigger than that.

I'm not blanking out. I can get the info I need here to fight back, but buh-bye TV.

Now, back to my course on "How Music and Mathematics Relate."

P.S. Thanks for posting this, MagaSmash. It is absolutely worth the time to watch.

because I don’t want to see his face, listen to his voice, or hear his name. Assuming it’s all Trump all the time and I am not up for it.

Eventually there will be some huge world event and I won’t be able to resist tuning in CNN, simply because they tend to have boots on the ground.

But for now, no.

Am I not to love this country because we lost an election to this man?
It kind of sounds like that’s what he’s saying. As far as watching the news and balancing it with your emotional well-being of course you need to do what you need to do but an argument for sticking our head in the sand doesn’t make a great deal of sense to me.
But I read the news.

I sure am thankful to those on you that share, there are so many and without them, I would know much less. Maybe you would too?

This country has had its knee on mine, my family's and many peoples economic necks as far as I can remember. Paycheck to paycheck was/is a way of life for us and most everyone I knew, even today. Yeah do what you need to do but IMO being uninformed is 100x worse than being informed at the very least at any level. I'm smart enough to dodge BS and catch the hidden truth.

people who see a tiny bit of the news expanded to 5 minutes each item, packaged for the greatest cringe factor.

It's not news. It's entertainment, and you can't block ads on TV.

Did you see "Network"? That was so spot on.

I check DU and Hacker News and know too much about everything, but

A. I'm an infovore,
B. I share valuable information with friends in medicine and aerospace.
C. I am great at skimming, which you cannot possibly do with videos or TV programs.

Oh, and

D. Even TikTok lets you choose what you see. TV has you captive to what "they" want you to see and, especially, what NOT to see.

Frightening!
