39. Even Reagan is turning in his grave, and it largely started with him.

Let me explain my thought.

In my view Reagan was a greedy, selfish, racist uncompassionate SOB only interested in making the rich get richer. But he thought you could do that and still have a stable country.

To that end it was necessary to dumb down the masses, which meant starting the attacks on education.

What Reagan, and all his co-SOBs didn't realize, is when you dumb down the masses, they become highly susceptible to any kind of notions put in front of them, because the masses have really lost the ability to understand basic reality.

What that ultimately means, is eventually some authoriatarian asshole like TFG, or Cruz, or Crawley, or Graham will exploit the sheer stupidity of the masses to gain or maintain power. And there will also be these little spin-off power grabs by QAnon or a similar wacko of the day who needs to feel powerful.

And, that, as we now know, is a direct threat to our democracy itself. As f*cked up as Reagan was, I don't think he'd have ever wanted this. But this is the result of 40 years of right wing assaults on education.
