13. we turned off our television 35 years ago...

...just before we gave it away. One of the best decisions we've ever made. The noise box is one of the worst distractions on Earth. I spent the better part of a week last month in a hotel, on a professional trip, where TV is hard to escape in the public rooms. Gawd it's appalling! Quitting television is like quitting smoking-- after getting through the initial craving, you cannot imagine ever wanting to do it again.
