5. This was an advantage of having contentious house and Senate races.

In previous years when voters didn't seem to care about the races when President and VP weren't on ballot turnout was horrible when Dems couldn't get excited about voting for MOC, the governorships and State Sec of State, etc. suffered and Republicans have taken over state governorships over the past 25 years.

This may be a great sign if the younger generation makes this a habit of voting every time there is an election. Part of citizenship is voting. If they really want to eventually take over the power of the party, they have to get into the habit of voting. I really hope this is a good sign. Dems made a great showing in Michigan this year.
