Why didn’t they demand everything back and send feds sooner to seize the property of the government.

Because the FBI didn't even know they needed to search the property for over a year. Then came the tapdancing from TFG's hack lawyers to keep the FBI out of everything. Then came the "we gave you everything--oops, maybe not" circle jerk. And finally, the FBI went in and took what belonged to We the People.
