2) The other--bussing of migrants in the US from the border where there are no support systems in place or resources to care for them to major cities across the country where there ARE resources and support systems in place to care for them simply makes sense. In December of 2023, the US allowed 225,000 migrants to cross the southern border (just in one month.) Those 225,000 homeless migrants have to go somewhere. Surely you were not expecting them to all stay in the southern border states?
The NIMBYism of some on this board is appalling, as it the attitude of saying out of one side of our mouths "oh yes, let's help these people I support immigration" while saying out of the other side of our mouths "as long as one of those busses never shows up in MY CITY where I might have to look at a migrant, have one in my child's school, or have my tax dollars expected to support them."
NIMBYism, folks, plain and simple. We need to do better. Immigration is a NATIONAL ISSUE, not just a headache for the border states to deal with which you can feel good about as long as the problem is invisible to you where you live.
