80/20 wasn't too shabby back then, but along the way, rising health care costs have rendered it inadequate for all but the healthiest people, which is not most seniors. So things like Medigap, Part D drug plans, and Medicare Advantage were created to take up the slack, ALL of which we have to buy from private insurance companies. Pardon me if I object to the fact that I have to pay money to private insurance companies to make up for the deficiencies in my government run health care coverage.
