(806 posts)9. It's the economy, as always.
People who don't care much about politics, who don't align with one party or the other, blame the party of the president when they perceive the economy to be bad. There are a lot of them.
Housing prices are high. Retail prices are high. While unemployment is low, the jobs that are available do not pay well. They don't feel they are getting ahead and statistics won't change their minds.

Yes, but reporting a close race isn't a money maker for the media. They need heightened awareness to rake it in.
