(3,103 posts)So trump gets a completely different standard than everyone else in politics with these people, because they see his abuses and crimes as being in the service of fighting the conspiracy in DC that they not only believe in, but also think is screwing everyone over. "trump derangement syndrome" to these people is the failure to apply this double standard, because you are "deranged" by the belief that trump is like all the other politicians.
It's a religious belief for people who don't follow politics very closely, or just blatantly hate the government, and want an easy answer.
I think this accounts for a lot of the Obama voters who switched to trump. They don't follow politics, so they expected massively more from Obama than he was able to deliver, and they either can't understand why or don't want to. They view Obama's change rhetoric as a lie.
...And they get even more confirmation that trump is their champion, because all the "normal politicians" hate trump and say he's dangerous, so clearly he has them on the ropes.
