11. I think it's gotten worse in my lifetime...

...and I look for what's causing that, and the only thing that makes sense to me to is the lack of "value" that people put into life in general.

We are living much more comfortable lives now, with an absurd amount of excess everything. Friends, neighbors, community, etc. are much less important when the population thinks they can just buy whatever they need or want.

As a species, our survival depends on the cooperation of those around us but when we lose sight of that through a false sense of independent security, other people are no longer important, so it's easy to disregard the pain of others.

But I don't know. I do know I fear for us though. Our position as a dominant species here on the planet might have an closer end date than we realize.
