Just got a roof repair from FEMA [View all]
and I'm gonna say it was a very pleasant experience.
We lost a 60 ft tall pine tree that fell on our home during Hurricane Milton and finally had it removed last Thursday by a service. After removal there were 5 holes in the roof extending into the attic. I happened to see an ad for Operation Blue Roof sponsored by the Army Corps of Engineers and figured what the heck, try to get in it so I applied. Lo and behold we qualified and a rep came out on Saturday to assess the damage and have us sign papers to allow the Corp to get on our roof. On Sunday I received an email telling me of qualifying and that the roof would be patched within 10 business days.
This morning at 8:30 three men pulled up at my house, introduced themselves as FEMA workers and thru the miracle of phone translation did the work in about 45 minutes to an hour. They used a self stick rolled roofing material that will stay on long enough to get a proper roof job done on two valleys and a ridgecap.
The workers were impressive. They showed up, set up, cleaned up and left. Am I happy? You betcha!!!
