When all seems grim, you see something like this: [View all]
The original story was posted on DU six years ago and here we are six years later and Alan is still faithful to his cause.
Alan "DontLookAway" Dornan
85 yrs old, tired, back on the corner advocating for my immigrant sisters and brothers. Don't have much left to give, but I've decided to give it all.
On the corner of Goff & Wells this morning vigiling for 0, our immigrant sisters & brothers in the country, at the border, the people of Ukraine, the people of Israel, the people of Gaza, the forgotten people of Haiti, my transgendered sisters & brothers and ALL who suffer poverty and oppression across the planet.
I'm back. I apologize for being off the grid for 4 days in the week before this existential election. I will try harder.
I will be on the corner tomorrow morning from 7:30-9:00 am.
Here with me is my friend Bob, who is 80- years old and still needing to work, driving a school bus, in order to make ends meet. He joins me on the corner on weekends in my advocacy for the less fortunate; he talks to me almost daily about the latest unexpected time bomb that has blown up his budget; he is very stressed out.
Bob is one of millions of Americans who are being squeezed out of the middle class by the ever-widening and long-lingering divide between the richest and the poorest in this nation.
He is an amazing man, one who actually does make America great.
