This is what I have been fearing, for non-obvious reasons: [View all]

I was worried, and rightly so, that Americans enjoyed….no, THOROUGHLY enjoyed the “excitement” of the Trump years. The continuous red chyrons, the lying, the notion that we were watching a very realistic tv show wherein you just never know what the next adventure is going to be.

The multiple story lines, the degenerate family and acquaintances, the irrational moves and statements, the personal enrichment in grotesque excess, with no “hell to pay”. People wanted this: to cheer criminality, avarice, stupidity, narcissism, and all the exploits of this tinhorn Sopranos family who have risen to the top of the American cesspool of entertainment. Paddy Chayefsky in his film Network, as brilliant as he was, could not have conceived of this story line.

I’ll probably write more later, but this is the country in which we all live. It’s a tragedy on many levels, but you know what? Roll with it and we shall see what happens in the next episode. Stay tuned for the next chapter of “Red Chyron”.
