12. I think we've turned a corner into a new reality

Very much like what you describe.

However, I don't 100% agree with the "young dudebros;" I think it's also a misogynous thing. I agree that this is it; I just think there is a little more to it; not exclusively the "young dudebros." For example, consider the immigrant cultures where women are subordinate.

For some reason, the title of a book has been floating around my head for the last few hours. The book, Amusing Ourselves to Death, was written by Neal Postman, with whom I interviewed when I was looking at Ph.D. programs. Postman was head of the Department of Culture and Communication at NYU. He was a prolific social critic. Here is a snip of what his book was about:

The essential premise of the book, which Postman extends to the rest of his argument(s), is that "form excludes the content", that is, a particular medium can only sustain a particular level of ideas. ... Owing to this shortcoming, politics and religion are diluted, and "news of the day" becomes a packaged commodity. Television de-emphasizes the quality of information in favor of satisfying the far-reaching needs of entertainment, by which information is encumbered and to which it is subordinate.

Postman's argument was about television, but it extends itself to the internet. As you say, " TikToks and viral content."

We're now seeing the children of the media and this is what we get: entertainment over substance.
