They nominated him.
I saw the footage from the Clooney fundraiser- Biden looked confused and disoriented until Obama led him offstage. He didnt recognize a friend he mentored at the D-Day rally. And that debate was beyond horrible and seemed to confirm all the rumors that had started months before May and Junes public appearances.

Look at Joe Biden's approval numbers, then look at how voters view Trump. Biden has been light years better than Trump.
