I was busy working and honestly not paying a great deal of interest to politics because of career demands. But some negative influences were happening in the 1990s that helped put us on the path we today. Rsh Limbaugh started broadcasting in 1988. Fox News launched in 1996. Alex Jones started broadcasting in the 1990s. Radio broadcasts started becoming more political with right-wing shock jocks like the Limbaugh and Jones acolytes.

Generations of voters have listened to watched and listened to right-wing propaganda for decades. Perhaps we should not be so shocked that we now have a country filled with people who prefer lies versus reality and value a corrupt entertainer over competence and statesmanship.
