Trump doesn't have any legal Federal or State Powers [View all]
Got a note from a law professor friend with a comment. Here it is:
Trump can't make any decisions concerning anything involving the U.S., any of the Nation's military, political or any other Federal or State item. He has no special powers of IMMUNITY as a regular citizen. He can suggest appointments to whomever but they also have no power until he's sworn in. And that might not happen. Argue that all you want. RIght now if he breaks the law he can and should be arrested and jailed (can you say Logan Act - without presidential approval he can't even talk to any foreigner about anything political pertaining to the U.S.) He's still a common citizen just like you and I and if he does do anything that's considered illegal, he's simply breaking the law and subject to the law. Biden or even a simply law enforcement officer should be able to take him in. And before the righteous among us and you know who they are, start to say he's the Pres - elect, show me the law that says he can do anything he wants. The Secret Service can protect his life but can't interfere with the law so long as he's not in danger. The can escort I'm to jail. Policy even at the DOJ isn't the law. A current president (Biden) can and should act if this citizen violates ANY law.
C'mon experts. You had no problem belittling those who suggest Garland had to follow the law. Now are you going to tell us Trump is above the law? How? Even the SCOTUS said you have to BE president before you can pretend to be king. Treat him as a regular citizen until he's sworn in. He's gotten away with breaking the law already. Time to treat him as a regular American. I believe that's the law.
So...
