Let's make a pact: don't go to Thanksgiving [View all]

if there is even so much as one Trump voter who will be there. Even if it is your own father, mother, sister, brother, son or daughter. One Trump voter in the group is the deal killer. Those people are extremely toxic - I know quite a few of them, though I consider none to be friends, just people I am required to deal with. They are AWFUL people with awful personalities. Trying to have a holiday together will only harm you. At best it will be extremely awkward and you won't enjoy it. At worst, they will gloat and rub it in and there will be arguments. There is no good outcome in those situations. Host or go to a Friendsgiving instead, inviting only like-minded friends. I have been to a few of those and they are FAR more enjoyable than those miserable family gatherings. If your family members say their feelings are hurt by you not going just because of how they voted, your reply is their standard line: "fuck your feelings."
