I remember when ICE raided a meat packing plant in Grainger County, TN in 2016 I don't know how many of those people had green cards, but it threw an entire community (Morristown, TN, in the adjacent county, where most of the workers lived and went to church) into an uproar. There's a funny thing about east Tennesseans---they're kinda prejudiced, but at the same time, it's like this: "Those folks might be Mexicans, but they're OUR Mexicans, so y'all just leave 'em be!" They were fiercely protective and angry as hell, and in the end, ICE and the feds just went off with their tails between their legs.
