It's the lies, Stupid. [View all]

The voters that voted for trump believed things that weren't true. Why? One huge reason was the way he was covered by most corporate media. The traditional media should have been screaming about the lies being spread directly by the candidate constantly. In terms of newsworthiness and civic responsibility, that was THE story. Literally everything the R's said was untrue.

Even worse than sanewashing was their tendency to just repeat the lies and move on. But the lying was the story. Not just the lies from random podcasters, but from the candidates themselves.

And the corporate media wonders why their ratings are dropping now? I have an idea. People are waking up to their dereliction of duty. And it doesn't help that there has been not one hint of self-reflection on the media's part. Until that happens, I think the drop in ratings will continue and deservedly so.
