Neither do all the sports metaphors.
Voting is not a consumer purchase and thinking of it that way is part of why our democracy is teetering in the brink.
Democracy requires thoughtful, informed choices, using good judgement.
Apparently this is just too hard and boring for a lot of Americans, so we get the government that results from a casual random choice between food trucks. The carnival barker wins every time.
