In reply to the discussion: So Morning Joe went to Mar-a-Lago and interviewed Trump [View all]SocialDemocrat61
(3,120 posts)On December 31, 2016, they attended Trump's New Year's Eve partying at Mar-a-Lago. They met with Trump privately and asked for positions in his administration. Joey wanted a cabinet position and MEka wanted to be Press Secretary. Trump said no. They left the party early feeling betrayed after all the positive coverage they gave him during the campaign (as well as their regular trashing of Hillary Clinton) and vowed revenge which led to the last 8 years of negative coverage of Trump.
Now that is all rumor and unverified other than a Trump tweet where he stated, 'they asked to join me and I said no', but it was told to be by a friend who worked at NBC News at the time. https://www.npr.org/2017/06/29/534870656/trumps-graphic-insult-of-cable-host-crosses-a-line-for-many
As far as their recent meeting, this is just an assumption on my part, but Joey has always wanted to run for the Senate from Florida. He might be hoping to run for Rubio's seat and wants Trump's backing to do it.
