Im Indian and as embarrassed by this guy as presumably many white/black/jewish dems are respectively by most of the GOP; Candace Owens, Ben Carson etc; Ben Shapiro, Steven Prager etc. .
We didnt get a biracial president with Indian roots, but we did get this guy pissing off most people .
Thankfully some 70+% Indians vote dem and at least hopefully a half of that is about liberal values beyond self interest. Not sure what the stats were in this election..was too dejected to look it up. With so many voting against self interest, liberal values (eternally neglected environmental issues, poverty eradication, equality, civil rights for all, regulation of capitalism) are in for a bleak future if a large enough number of people who can afford it dont pull together in the farther future for values beyond immediate, narrow self interest.
And not performatively (I.e. what conservatives sneer at as virtue signalling), but rather non superficially recognising that science and policy matter. You cannot just get rid of the govt and run a country like a business. You cannot despoil the environment without depleting it and seriously endangering public health. It may not happen overnight, but in the long run the attrition to health and quality of life are significant even if you see no tragedy in the destruction of forests, oceans etc for their own sakes.
This era will also be remembered as the time Si Valley unleashed some truly awful ideas on the world:
https://qz.com/191694/why-an-occupy-activist-turned-googler-thinks-eric-schmidt-should-run-the-us
Justine Tunney is an engineer at Google. But shes also, by her own account, a founder of the Occupy Wall Street movement. (Other Occupy protesters take issue with that description, but one thing is for sure, she was active and visible in Occupy for three years.) At the intersection of these two unlikely facts is a thirdTunney recently launched a petition on the website of the White House to appoint Google chairman Eric Schmidt as CEO of America, replacing president Barack Obama in what would amount to a bloodless coup.
Mostly, this proposal has been met with mockery. As of this writing, the original petition has only 32 signatures.

It didnt happen with Eric Schmidt but they sure seem to be trying with the far worse Musk. I cannot believe these fringe fucking ideas by these drugged-out*, brainless, shallow, vapid, si valley bros have gotten enough traction at least BTS to seriously affect the lives of so many humans and other life forms. These guys are idiots-Thiel, Yarvin, Musk, Ramaswamy .
It is time to understand that a lot of Si Valley doesnt seem that different from the robber barons of the past. EarlGs post election post mortem too was about how new media is leading to a post truth reality. That is the general take in my small circle re the election. That above all it has become impossible to communicate effectively with algorithms feeding people garbage.

(*: hey I am all for weed legalization, but you are not supposed to actually take the stuff you think of when high seriously. That is what idiots like Musk dont get. It is called an altered state for a reason. Simulation theories and multiverses etc may be fun speculation but when you seem this disconnected from the realities of all the people whose jobs, healthcare and lives these callous and cavalier tech bros are sneeringly playing with )

To find them at all, you'd have to rummage in the DU Archives from when Hillary was running for POTUS
