One of the problems with internet posts is that they are not thoughtful and nuanced.

I am not saying that some fun is not to be had when we all pile on, click and like stuff. To a moderate extent that makes online interactions more fun than not - as long as it is recognised that it is not all humor/fun and that hyperbole will never entirely capture complex realities.

I like yardwork’s writing because it seems almost quaint- as if it is from an era when people actually bothered to read whole sentences.

Oh I also write occasionally in the style of the internet troll (well maybe not troll but internet user), but whatever the position, the posts I tend to like here are thoughtful and not overly reductive.

I do think the internet is making us collectively stupider as a species. This was 2008:

Now it is so much worse. One cannot get rid of the internet, but I do think it needs more study to be truly useful and fun rather than the organ of stupidity and terror it has become.
