Democrats view it as politics, policies that will appeal to persuadable interest groups.

That is why we fail.

Newt really got this going in the 90's as Marc Elias opines and it has been all downhill from there. The only good policy is a Con policy. Don't give the other side a win even if it means you get what you want. Demonize your opponent 24/7.

But none of this happens without the backing of the global Oligarchy. That is at the root of all of it.

If the Cons suddenly truly embraced populism, as they currently sell to the great unwashed, their brand would be trashed by the next election cycle.

This all only works because the corrupt Oligarchy allows it to work. It serves their primary interest, unimpeded crony capitalism.

We are in a prison camp of prosperity for a few and impending Climate Collapse for all.

In the end, this is a cage match where nobody walks away...
