(32,139 posts)in both Missouri (St. Joseph) and Nebraska (Lincoln). In St Joe, we belonged to a Disciples of Christ church which was home to many of the 'liberals' in the area.
When my oldest was going into 9th grade and the youngest into 5th grade, we moved to Chapel Hill, NC, and I've been here now in the Triangle area --which is very blue--for 24 years. Both my sons--who are gay--live near by. The oldest came out in high school, the youngest in college. Kids survive moving. They learn how to adapt and make new friends. If the MAGA atmosphere is stifling for your daughter, think what a toxic mess it is the children are growing up in!
I would encourage your daughter to relocate to a more progressive area, whether in Ohio or to another state. College towns are generally left leaning and will probably also have good public schools because they are populated by parents who tend to be educated. The Internet makes it very easy to research these days.
Good luck to her.
