50. I'm gonna protest this a little.

I've watched relatives who were once kind and sane go down the rabbit hole. With this much disinformation sloshing around, a lot of people are surprising people they used to know.

Even JD Vance's old friends say they no longer recognize him.

It's been eight years since Trump was last elected, and that's a long time with lots of other things happening. I can imagine being surprised to learn that people are Trumpsters.

It's happened to me with my in-laws and I'm still processing it. I had a completely different impression of them and their politics until the summer of 2022. I was shocked and I'm still grieving the loss of my previous feelings for them. They went from people I thought I liked and could count on to strangers I have to tolerate for my MIL's sake, but see as rarely as possible. We used to go on vacation together. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere with them now.
