(13,648 posts)There is always a line to tolerance, because if you tolerate something that is intolerable, that will take over
If you will not draw the line at temper tantrums for a child, that child will continue to throw tantrums until you give into it and give it what it wants even if you don't want to.
If you tolerate Leopards pouncing on others and eating their faces - eventually, you must either join the Leopards or get your face eaten, also.
It's up to people to determine where their particular line is drawn - how close they want to stand in their tolerance.
But remember this - all it takes for evil to take hold is for good people to stay silent.
Just be aware that if your beloved family becomes active Trumpers to the point they actively support inflicting suffering or death as long it's on "those others" - it's too late for you to act against that intolerable evil without them turning on you.
Which is worse? You decide.
I'm wondering about my SIL because her husband is a middle class "good ol'boy" who thinks of himself as a good charitable Christian but votes for Republicans because "Socialists believe in handouts instead of hard work" and handouts are unsustainable. (Ya, he's a bank manager in a red state.)
