There were six of us there. My wife and me (74 & 76). The hosting couple (about 70ish each). Plus one woman who lives alone and is about 86, and another woman who also lives alone who is about 82. This represented four out of about thirty houses. The other twenty-six houses are severely red, politically.

We are all trying to figure out how to cope. The 86 year-old woman was the most philosophical and laid back. She was very reassuring, IMO. She is a professor of English at a nearby university (still teaching!). The 70ish couple (the youngest of our small group) seemed to be the most apprehensive.

We agreed to meet often. Maybe we will pick up some of the other neighbors as they realize how bad this is going to be.
