(1,929 posts)The Hispanics I used to work with (all from Mexico) didn't like black people, to put it nicely.
They were undocumented but able to work because they were grandfathered in prior to e-verify. They had fake social security #s, paid their taxes through their paychecks and couldn't file a return. You'd think that would raise some flags but the system doesn't seem to care, go figure.
I always suspected it was in part due to friction between the groups when Hispanics arrived on the scene and began moving into poor historically black areas......they were easy prey. I doubt that lasted long but it was embedded in local Hispanic culture from the get-go......probably amplified by their media (though that's pure conjecture).
Anyway, page from the classic playbook......keep the poor at each other's throats and they won't notice who is really keeping them down. Never seems to fail.
Sad.
