That's a huge number if that holds true everywhere else. Twitter will still be out there 10 years from now. Myspace is still there. Foursquare is out there. Groupon is out there. Yelp is out there. Heck, yellowpages.com is still out there. They never go away completely.

But if the engagement moves to another site, then Twitter becomes mostly an archive.

The most-followed users cross-post the same content to multiple sites, and most of them will keep dumping the content onto Twitter if it doesn't cost them any money to do that. What will induce them to stop cross-posting to Twitter?

- Leon charging a high monthly fee?

- Nothing by MAGA people trashing the comments section of each post?

I think that second scenario is highly likely. We saw that Meidas Touch gained a huge number of Bluesky followers almost immediately. If that follow for others, then there will soon come a time that they decide their brand is not helped by having nothing but Nazis commenting on one of their sites.
