I doubt that some of the shrugging is about his death so much as a refusal to engage in a specific ritual of social media performative outrage .
I agree with your post because it doesnt strike me as insincere. It is abhorrent and scary if it is an execution. That is the type of class warfare that will destroy society.
That said, unlike your post, I take some of the other posts with many vomit/head banging emojis/preachy declarations with a grain of salt. Our perception of the sincerity or logical consistency of posters drives our responses.
None of us are entirely logically consistent. I am not. So perceived sincerity drives engagement.
I am not shrugging if it is an execution. Yes of course that would be ..well yes morally abhorrent but first terrifying. Morally abhorrent not because I am a pure soul filled with decorum though. Morally abhorrent because an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.
FWIW I also didnt agree with posts after the election like let all the leopards eat faces. Let them all die etc.
All that is the thinking that got us here.
But thank you for your posts. It is easy to become jaded and cavalier and that is to be avoided. Times like these will lower average societal empathy and intelligence and that is non-ideal.
