It's way too early to figure out what is going on. Hopefully, the police and maybe the FBI will figure out who did this and a possible motive. The fact that there are very few details on what happened (as far as motive) doesn't stop people from offering their own opinion.

And I'll add my observations. At some point in the last couple of decades, our country has become inundated with hate. It's on the TV, AM radio, the internet and so on. Hate is a strong emotion and it's a good way to attract and keep people's attention (and who doesn't like attention when it can be monetized). Twitter/X (I'm not on) seems to be a microcosm of our current situation.

You mix a constant barrage of hate and you get a population that believes it's being victimized by the system. Whether or not that's true is irrelevant. If you're constantly being poked by the anger stick, you're apt to lash out at some one or some thing. Being constantly angered is not good for anyone's psyche. Add guns to the mix and you know what you get.

So maybe you shouldn't be surprised at people's online responses given the amount of anger some people seem to expose themselves to these days. But also keep in mind the online response may be skewed towards folks who have constantly exposed themselves to these anger mongers. It may not reflect everyone's opinion.
