(7,267 posts)The game is way far too tilted in favor of the ultra rich.
For instance, we need regulations on campaign contributions to keep people like you from using money to wedge themselves into government.
Elon Musk literally bought himself a "fake" government agency with his 120 million dollar (at least) contribution to the Trump campaign.
Citizens United may very well be the worst decision ever by our Supreme Court; even worse than the repeal of Roe/Wade.
It opened the door to corruption in government on a grand scale, and lead to the demise of the Republican Party as a legitimate standard bearer of Conservative politics.
Without it, Trump may never have gotten a chance to become President, and not have been able to stack the SC with judges who would destroy Roe/Wade.
The rich saw his potential as a destroyer of the Regulatory Agencies, and as a major gift giver in the form or massive tax breaks, so they helped him get in for their own selfish purposes.
Unfortunately for them, they could find themselves as his servants, just like the Oligarchs in Russia.
Hint to people like Bezos, Musk, and Zuckerman: Make sure none of your office windows can be opened, and they are super resistant to breakage. You never know when you could fall through one if Trump takes the country to the dark places he wants it to go to.
