An extremely smart young man, Mangione's educational background reads similar to that of the Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski. Prior to graduating from high school, Mangione was enrolled in a pre-collegiate studies program at Stanford. After graduating from high school with honors, he attended University of Pennsylvania, where he studied and received both a bachelors and masters degree in computer science with an emphasis on AI. Interestingly, slain UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was at the vanguard of the healthcare industry's use of AI in the evaluation of health insurance claims. Smart, attractive, seemingly well liked, Mangione was the kid next door on his way up in the world. Until now.
