(2,095 posts)There is a lot of attention paid to Musk, Bezos, and Zucherberg. But the "enemy" is much bigger, much broader. It is most big wealthy corporations and powerful industries. Because of the power of wealth, very very few politicians are going to take them on. It will have to be the masses both actively and by being prepared for when an oligarch or fascist makes a misstep. We must watch carefully for an opportunity.
What about the famous three? Amazon has thousands of shareholders. Facebook has thousands of shareholders. However, the Washington Post has only one. It is a realistic target. It is also very easy to avoid buying a Tesla.
Who else among all the industries and corporations? I suggest corporate owned media for two reasons. This narrows the universe of "enemies". AND, very importantly, the media define and declare reality. They report what is. It might be true or it might be totally false, but it is pretty much reality for many if not most people. Without good, thorough, honest, reporting we will live in a bubble of fascist propaganda. We must fight for as well as hold accountable NPR. I also suggest The Guardian. I'm sure there are several others.
We can boycott directly (and their advertisers) the many corporate mediated media platforms. As much as I love and appreciate MSNBC, it is clear that they must be very careful about criticizing or reporting too much truth about sponsors and potential sponsors. I seriously wish MSNBC could be owned by the employees. Perhaps some billionaires with integrity would help.
I think about this way too much, and this is my best shot at what to do -- so far. If you agree, I encourage you to promote this as much as possible.
