(1,996 posts)32. It has been speculated she was on the autism spectrum.
In interviews, something clearly wasn't right with her mentally. Something was missing, and that something was the inability to see the world through the point of view of others. She simply wasn't capable of putting herself in somebody else's shoes and trying to see things from their perspective. It isn't that she didn't want to--she couldn't.
She could have had full blown mental illness, but the "autism" explanation has been out there about her.
"Autism" wasn't a "thing" during her lifetime.
