As they always do, the Republicans say one thing and then do the other. Under normal circumstances, Judge Garland would have been vetted and confirmed by now. But these are not normal circumstances.

President Obama already knew that the Senate would not hold hearings on his nominee to the Supreme Court. I believe that is why he named a highly-respected centrist white male who was older. Judge Garland's nomination wasn't ideological, he wouldn't be on the court for decades to come and he had already been confirmed by the same Senate that now ignored him. The president's play was brilliant politically and highlighted the hypocrisy of the GOP.

Like you, Rex, I can't wait to see how this plays out.
